Empire Magazine on Anvil!: 5 stars!

” [This] film rises above mere cinematic rubbernecking to tell an amazing story about optimism, limits and the underside of the rock ’n’ roll dream”

Verdict: The lyrics to AC/DC’s Long Way To The Top were never more appropriate. Anvil! is exactly what’s needed to slap the recent rash of doomsayer documentaries in the face — preferably with a studded, fingerless leather glove.

Anvil! Is playing at the 2009 Florida Film Festival on Thursday, April 2nd and Sunday, April 5. Don’t miss out! Buy your tickets now!

ANVIL! THE STORY OF ANVIL

Toronto teenagers Steve “Lips” Kudlow and Robb Reiner made a pact to rock together forever. Their band, Anvil, released 1982’s genre-classic Metal on Metal, influencing a generation of thrash metal pioneers including Metallica, Slayer, and Anthrax, all of whom went on to sell millions of records. Anvil’s career took a different path—straight to obscurity. As heart-warming as it is absurd, ANVIL! is simply one of the best rock movies ever made. Don’t miss it.
